P.A.R.T.Y. is a nationally recognized injury prevention program that has been running in Wood Buffalo for over 10 years. The program focuses on injury prevention, safe choices, and safe driving. The goal is to provide young people with hands on, interactive experiences about traumatic injury so they develop skills to recognize potential injury-risk situations, make prevention-oriented choices, and adopt behaviors that minimize unnecessary risk. This is important because injury is the #1 cause of death of teenagers in Canada.
P.A.R.T.Y. stands for; Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth.
Safe Community Wood Buffalo runs P.A.R.T.Y. program yearly in our region and invites the schools to host the program for their grade 9 students.
Safe Community Wood Buffalo, P.A.R.T.Y. Program stakeholders, planning group, and volunteers are a dedicated group of professionals committed to promoting safe teens and reducing the impact of injury. Program content will involve presentations and demonstrations including a mock collision, mock trauma, and hands on learning opportunities from health professionals, emergency responders, law enforcement, Victim Services, and injury survivors. We receive positive feedback from students, teachers, and parents that this program is a valuable learning experience with profound impact.
We do require volunteers to make this program run smoothly. Volunteer opportunities are posted through Wood Buffalo Volunteers closer to the event. For any questions about volunteering you can email impact@scwb.ca.
P.A.R.T.Y. Program requires yearly funding, if you are a company/business that is interested please reach out to ed@scwb.ca.
