National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims

On the third Wednesday of November each year, Safe Community Wood Buffalo organizes an event in partnership with RCMP, Victim Services, MADD, Sparksman & other local road safety advocates to honour the victims of road crashes in Canada, specifically, Wood Buffalo. This event brings awareness of road safety issues including, impaired & distracted driving, as well as school bus & child passenger safety. The event sets up in the main concourse of MacDonald Island Park. The approved stories of local victims are displayed on banners for passers-by to read at leisure. Each showcasing the impact on some of our own local people, just going about their daily lives when a road crash changed everything for them & for their families. Representatives from our partners are also present to answer questions & engage with those looking for more information. Candles can also be placed to honour or remember loved ones. Remember every day that one road crash victim is far too many. Drive safe always!
Are you passionate about road safety? Would you have a victim impact story to share? Please contact event organizer Toni Anderson - impact@scwb.ca for more information about this event.
