Road Safety Wood Buffalo is proud to announce that it is the 1st recipient of the national Award for Collaborative Excellence from the Canadian Collaborating Centres for Injury Prevention (CCCIP). This is a new award that recognizes and celebrates the value and power of collaboration as the keystone of effective injury prevention and safety promotion practice in Canada.

Safe Community Wood Buffalo was presented with this award at the Canadian Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Conference on November 17, 2011. Elaine Read, Chair of Road Safety Wood Buffalo, complimented the whole committee, “Our Committee is truly a collaborative team that shares the common vision of safer roads for all users. We are a team of interdisciplinary players who all bring specific expertise to the table. We are rich in ideas, passionate about road safety, involved at a grassroots level, and have the capacity to address community road safety priorities. To be recognized on the national stage is a huge testament to our contributions towards road safety. “

The CCCIP Award for Collaborative Excellence recognized Road Safety Wood Buffalo for systematically identifying a significant injury challenge, recognizing that the best approach for addressing that challenge is a collaborative one, and has worked together effectively to address it.
